Tips For Effective Writing That Will Attract Readers

As an internet marketer, writing is a pretty essential skill. Whether it’s writing an eBook, article, blog post, or email, it is important to get the message across to your readers in the right way. Here we’re going to run through some great tips which should help you write effectively… 

One of the first things to consider is the purpose of your writing. Are you trying to be informative, or is the main reason to get people to check out your link and buy a product?

The medium you are writing for will also make a big difference. In an eBook, for example, you’ve got much more space to expand on your ideas, and people will expect more detail than in, say, a blog post.

Once you’ve got that figured out you should then think about your audience. For example, do they already know a lot about the subject, or are they new to it? Are they young or old? Of course there is a good chance that your audience will vary quite widely within these ranges, but it definitely helps to think about it.

Here are some top tips for effective writing:

1. Be short and concise. Most people hate waffle, and you can really start to lose your audience. 

2. Avoid needless ‘techy’ jargon. Again, get straight to the point, and do not use a long word when a short one will do!

3. Write as you speak. People like to be entertained as they read, so avoid making your writing seem too formal. I also like to add in smilies or emoticons as these definitely lighten the mood. 

4. Break your text into short paragraphs. It’s easier to read and makes the page seem more spacious. Large chunks or blocks of text can really put people off from even reading what you’ve written.

5. Add headings. It breaks up the text and makes it easier for people to find the bits they are looking for.

6. Ask questions. This is a great way of connecting with your readers because it makes them think. Start a paragraph with a question, and then start answering it, or get people to think more about the issues around the question.

Of course, you need to adapt these to suit your medium, but the fact is that writing really doesn’t have to be difficult. Follow these top writing tips and in my opinion you won’t go far wrong.
